Jeddah, Sunday 26 October 2025: A new and significant milestone has been achieved for the 119-megawatt (MW) Solar PV Plant in Wadi Dawasir, with the confirmation of the Commercial Operations Date for the project.
The project, which was awarded to a consortium that includes, Altaaqa Renewables, TotalEnergies and Toyota Tsuho is being built by a subsidiary of Power China (SEPCO) and once complete will power more than 17,000 homes while eliminating the emission of 165,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year.
The project is part of the third round of the National Renewable Energy Program and is overseen by the Ministry of Energy; with the aim of reducing reliance on liquid fuels in electricity generation. The energy produced by this Solar PV Plant in Wadi Ad-Dawasir will be sold to the Saudi Power Procurement Company via a Power Purchase Agreement.
